What Prescene makes

What does Prescene do?
Prescene reads your script and drafts the production paperwork in minutes instead of weeks: the Breakdown, the Schedule and the Budget. When new pages come in, it reads them and brings all three up to the new draft.
Who is it for?
The people who prep a film or series for production: line producers, UPMs and production coordinators, and the producers who need an estimate before a greenlight. When the crew arrives, each department gets the parts that are theirs.
What files can I add?
A PDF, Final Draft or Fountain file of a film or an episode. For a series, add one episode at a time or a whole season at once.
What is in the Breakdown?
Every scene with its set, location, day or night, pages and cast, and its elements by department: extras, stunts, vehicles, props, wardrobe, makeup and hair, set dressing, effects, sound and music. See it as a table, or on the script pages with each item in its department’s color. What Prescene isn’t sure of is listed at the top for you to check.
How is the Schedule made?
From the Breakdown and four answers you can change any time: the kind of production, the length of a day, the days a week and the start date. It shows how many shoot days that comes to, then the stripboard, the calendar and the day out of days. Move strips by hand; Re-generate keeps every strip you moved and every time you typed.
Where do the Budget’s numbers come from?
The Budget is made from the Schedule and the Breakdown: the shoot days, and the cast and elements in each scene. Each line says where its rate comes from, and the lines Prescene estimated are marked so you know which to check. Drop in your own rate card, deal memo or past budget and Prescene uses your numbers. Re-generate keeps every rate, deal and number anyone typed.
Does it work with Movie Magic?
Yes. The Breakdown exports a file to import in Movie Magic Scheduling, and the Budget exports its accounts to paste into Movie Magic Budgeting. Everything also exports as PDF and Excel, and tables as CSV.
Can I change what Prescene drafts?
Yes. Every cell in the Breakdown, every strip in the Schedule and every line in the Budget can be edited. Prescene points out what it isn’t sure of; you decide.

New drafts

What happens when a new draft comes in?
Add it to the project. Prescene reads it and lists what changed, scene by scene and department by department, with the lines from the script. The Breakdown, Schedule and Budget are brought up to the new draft.
Do I lose my edits?
No. Where the new pages change something you edited, Prescene asks, and you choose: use the new draft or keep yours.
Does a new draft count as another script?
No. A script is one film or one episode with all its drafts. Only a new film or a new episode counts.

When the crew arrives

How do I get the documents to my crew?
Press Send on the Schedule, the Budget or a department’s Breakdown, and choose the departments or people. Prescene keeps a copy of what each person got. When a new draft changes it, the document shows the changes since you sent it, and Re-send emails them what changed.
What does sending cost?
Nothing more. Sending is part of every paid plan, with no fee per show. People you send to or share with to view or comment need no plan.

Plans & billing

Which plan do I need?
Free views, comments on and downloads anything shared or sent to you, with one script of your own to try. Starter is $49 a month, to get started prepping your script. Pro is $99 a month, for working on a show every day. Max is $249 a month, for heavy use: several shows, storyboards and clips, with priority reading. Team is $119 a seat a month, from 3 seats: the company workspace, with a shared Library, one bill and admin. Every feature is on every paid plan, with unlimited scripts. Studios and networks buy by contract. Script coverage is sold on its own: $29 a report, and your first one is free.
What does Free include?
Viewing, commenting on and downloading anything shared or sent to you, and one script of your own to try: its Breakdown, Schedule and Budget, and a few questions about it in Ask. A new draft of it is kept, unread, until you choose a plan.
Who needs a seat?
Each person who edits on Team. People who only view are free on every paid plan, and the crew needs no seats once a project is in Production.
What happens at the usage limit?
A new draft is still read, and every document is brought up to it. Ask, Generate and Re-generate wait until your month starts again, or until you add usage. Added usage never expires.
Is there a yearly price?
Plans are monthly or yearly; yearly is two months free. Usage starts again each month, and you can add usage any time.
What happens when I cancel or move down?
Nothing is deleted. Your scripts, drafts and everything made from them stay readable and downloadable.
How do studios buy Prescene?
By contract: seats for the people who estimate, and one yearly commitment that script reads and Production draw from, invoiced, with single sign-on, admin and audit. Write us at hello@prescene.com.

Privacy

Is my work private?
Yes. Your scripts are private by default and are not used to train AI models. See the Privacy Policy for the limited cases in which authorized people or service providers may process your data.
Can I download everything?
Yes, on every plan: every script, draft and document made from them.

Add your script to see its Breakdown, Schedule and Budget, or see pricing.
